Community Christmas

Solomon Announces 2025 Community Christmas Celebration for November 29th
SOLOMON, KS — The City of Solomon is preparing to shine bright once again with its annual Community Christmas celebration on Saturday, November 29, 2025. After the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, the city is excited to welcome families back for a full day of festive fun, community spirit, and magical memories — all completely free to the public.
This free community event is proudly supported by our 2025 Main Event Sponsor, Twin Valley, whose generosity helps bring the magic of Community Christmas to life.
“This event is about celebrating community, joy, and the magic that happens when people come together,” said Mayor Brandy Gray. “Last year’s celebration showed just how special Solomon truly is, and we’re thrilled to continue that tradition with activities and memory-making moments this year.”
Morning Festivities at the Fire Station | 10 AM – 12 PM
The day begins at the Solomon Fire Department with a long-standing local favorite — Photos with Santa. Families are encouraged to bring their own cameras to capture the annual tradition.
This cherished event continues thanks to the dedication of Fire Chief Randy Paden and the Solomon firefighters.
Children can enjoy several holiday craft stations hosted by community partners, including the Solomon HIgh School Culinary Arts, Solomon Wranglers 4-H Club and Solomon Girl Scouts:
- Cookie Decorating
- Santa Candy Cane Craft
- Holiday Coloring Pages
- Ornament Crafts And More!
Morning goodies — donuts and juice — will be generously provided by West Country Mart.
Evening Magic at Solomon City Park | 4 PM – 6:30 PM
The festivities continue at Solomon City Park, where Santa will make his grand arrival at 4:15 PM — a moment sure to excite children and adults alike. Once at the park, families can enjoy:
- Photos with Santa inside the log cabin
- Reindeer Games & Holiday Activities
- Cookies & Cocoa Station
- Outdoor Holiday Photo Scene & Selfie Station
- Pickleball & Basketball Courts open for family play
- Christmas Donkey Barn
- S’mores Station & Backyard Games
Grinch Sightings & Character Fun
A favorite from last year returns — the Grinch will once again be roaming the park, bringing playful mischief and fun photo opportunities for families. In addition, small Grinch figurines will be hidden around the park, waiting for children to find them. During the tree lighting ceremony, every child who discovered a figurine will be invited forward to receive a special holiday gift.
Festival of Trees & Community Voting
Back by popular demand, the Tree Decorating Contest invites families, groups, and local businesses to decorate Christmas trees donated by Mitchell Farms.
Voting will take place during the festival. To cast a ballot, guests are asked to bring a donation for Operation Gorilla’s Holiday Donation Drive, supporting local families in need.
Carriage Rides & Holiday Treats
Holiday carriage rides return thanks to generous support from Smart Insurance and CES Engineering.
Guests can also warm up with delicious comfort foods available for purchase from Chapman’s Take Away Food, the featured food truck for this year’s event.
Holiday Music to Fill the Park
No Christmas celebration is complete without festive music, and this year’s lineup promises to bring an extra spark of seasonal joy. Throughout the evening at Solomon City Park, guests will be treated to holiday performances by the Solomon Community Choir and Solomon USD 393 Band and Music Students. Their mix of classic carols, upbeat holiday favorites, and student-led pieces will set the perfect soundtrack for the night’s festivities. Families are encouraged to gather near the log cabin or around the tree to enjoy the live music, cheer on local talent, and soak in the magic that only a hometown holiday performance can bring. These musical contributions are a cherished highlight of the event and a beautiful reminder of the creativity and spirit within our community.
A Joyful Finale — Community Christmas Tree Lighting | 6 pm
The celebration will culminate with the lighting of Solomon’s 14-foot Christmas tree, made possible through funding from the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. This magical moment invites the entire community to gather together, sing carols, and close the day with holiday cheer.
A Heartfelt Thank-You
“We are so grateful to the volunteers, families, students, businesses, and partners who make this celebration possible,” Mayor Gray added. “Solomon truly knows how to show up for one another. We can’t wait to celebrate another unforgettable holiday season together.”
