A Reminder About Solomon's Yard Waste Collection Site

1/20/2026

The City of Solomon’s yard waste collection site is a valuable service available to residents and property owners within city limits, helping keep our community clean and well maintained. To ensure this service remains available to everyone, the city is sharing a quick reminder about proper use of the site.

The yard waste collection site is intended only for yard waste, including tree limbs, brush, leaves, grass clippings, and vegetation that originate from within Solomon city limits. Materials such as construction debris, lumber, household trash, plastic items, or other non-yard waste are not permitted. Because the site is regularly inspected by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), improper dumping could result in fines or even closure of the site.

For safety reasons, the yard waste collection site gates remain locked, as the site shares space with the city’s sewer lagoons. Keys are available at the City Office during business hours and may be checked out for short-term or weekend use. During major weather events, such as ice or wind storms, the city may temporarily open the gates to support cleanup efforts.

Residents are asked to back vehicles as close to the yard waste pile as possible and to help keep the area clean by picking up any trash they may see. These small efforts go a long way in protecting this service for the entire community.

Thank you for helping the City of Solomon keep the yard waste collection site safe, compliant, and available for everyone.
