The Solomon Community Fund continues to support projects that improve quality of life in the Solomon community and is currently accepting grant applications while also preparing to participate in this year’s Donate Dickinson County Day.

The fund was established to support projects that add value to the community and address local needs. The fund is an endowed community fund held through the Community Foundation of Dickinson County, meaning donations are invested and continue to grow over time, providing long-term support for local projects and future community needs. Since 2023, more than $5,000 in community grants has been awarded to projects benefiting Solomon residents.

Several recent projects funded through the Solomon Community Fund include:

Solomon Municipal Pool – Water Volleyball Net

Grant funding helped purchase a water volleyball net, providing an additional activity during pool hours and for pool parties.

Solomon City Park / Sports Court – Pickleball Equipment

Funding helped purchase pickleball paddles available for checkout at the City Office, along with a portable net that allows a second court to be set up. Equipment may be rented at no cost during City Hall business hours.

Solomon Festival / City of Solomon – Stage Sound System

The City partnered with the Solomon Festival Committee to obtain a stage sound system used for community events, including the festival, Community Christmas, and Faith in Blue.

The Solomon Community Fund committee is currently accepting grant applications through March 31, 2026. Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, government agencies, churches, and schools, and projects must directly benefit the Solomon community. Requests may not exceed $1,000. Those interested in applying or requesting an application may contact solomoncommunityfund@gmail.com.

In addition to the current grant cycle, the Solomon Community Fund will once again participate in Donate Dickinson County Day, a countywide giving event coordinated by the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. This year’s event will take place on March 20, 2026, marking the fourth year the Solomon Community Fund has taken part in the annual effort to support local projects and organizations.

Donate Dickinson County Day is a 24-hour online giving event designed to help nonprofit organizations and community funds raise money for local needs and long-term community improvements. Donations made during the event help build endowment funds that continue to provide support for projects throughout Dickinson County for years to come.

Funds raised for the Solomon Community Fund stay in Solomon and are used to support projects that improve quality of life, strengthen community programs, and provide resources for future needs.

Residents may have recently received a postcard in the mail highlighting some of the projects made possible through past donations and showing how the fund has continued to grow each year, demonstrating the impact local giving can have when the community works together.

Natalie Wood, who helps with Donate Dickinson County Day through the Community Foundation, said the event continues to show the strength of local generosity.

“Donate Dickinson County Day is about local impact. When people give locally, they can see the results in their own communities, and those gifts continue to make a difference year after year,” Wood said.

Donations can be made online throughout the day on March 20 through the Donate Dickinson County website at www.donatedickinson.com. To donate in-person, a drive-thru option is available at 201 NW 2nd Street in Abilene between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

When giving, donors may select the Solomon Community Fund to support projects that directly benefit the Solomon community. Contributions of any size help grow the fund and ensure resources are available for future improvements, programs, and local initiatives.
