Game On: New Courts Coming to Solomon’s City Park – Update
10/10/2024
The City of Solomon’s Sports Court Revitalization Project is underway!
Made possible by the Quality of Life Coalitions’s Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Grant provided by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and the Community Foundation of Dickinson County this project’s aim is to transform the current facility into a vibrant space for recreation, healthy activity and community connection.
The sports court revitalization project includes
- A painted half basketball court with a new basketball goal for casual and competitive play
- A full pickleball court, bringing one of the fastest-growing sports in the country right to our community
- Concrete repair, fresh painted lines and an acrylic top layer for durability and longevity
- 8 benches for spectator seating and rest areas (available for sponsorship)
- A fully fenced area for safety and security
- New lighting to extend the fun into the evening
We Still Need Your Help!
While much of the project is funded through the generous grant support, community contributions are being accepted to fund the court’s landscaping costs and finishing touches.
Here’s how you can help:
- Sponsor a Bench: For a $1,500 donation, you can sponsor one of 8 available benches and receive a personalized plaque
- Make a Donation: Any amount helps! Contributions of $250 or more will be honored on a plaque at the sports court.
The project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by mid-November.
